About Ponto Urbe

An academic, multilingual, open-access journal of urban anthropology.

Ponto Urbe (ISSN 1981-3341) is a free, multilingual academic journal organized by the Laboratory of the Urban Anthropology Nucleus (LabNAU-USP), linked to the Department of Anthropology at the University of São Paulo, Brazil. Founded in 2007, the journal encourages the circulation of scholarship in urban anthropology in dialogue with the wider discipline.

Our editorial mission is to provide a space for previously unpublished academic work by researchers at every stage of their careers, from institutions across Brazil and abroad. We are indexed and accredited through Brazil's national research council (CNPq) and have run continuously since our first issue.

Sections

The journal is organized into five recurring sections: Articles, original peer-reviewed research; Thematic Dossiers, curated collections on a single question; Cir-kula, shorter pieces from neighboring disciplines that speak to urban anthropology; Translations, of rare or current texts not yet available in Portuguese; and Interviews, conversations with senior figures in Brazilian anthropology.

Peer review

All articles submitted to Ponto Urbe undergo double-blind peer review by at least two specialists in the relevant subfield before an editorial decision is made. Full details are available on our submissions page.

Open access

Every issue of Ponto Urbe is published free to read and free to publish in, with no article processing charges for authors. Content is licensed under CC BY 4.0 unless otherwise noted.
